Variable refrigerant flow (VRF) ou variable refrigerant volume (VRV) units above 100 KW

Reference: B.2.1

LEME Mitigation

Reduce the electric consumption by replacing existing monosplit, multisplit or small chilled water-air conditioned systems. The design is either under the '' variable refrigerant flow or variable refrigerant volume'' VRF ou VRV concept for systems above 100 kW in most cases.

For medium size buildings, up to 40 rooms (housing, offices, hotels, hospitals…)

Estimated pay back time short term : 2-4 years, medium term: 4-6 years, long term : 6-8 years (*)

Short/medium term

VRF/ VRV systems are a matched combination of up to 40 indoor fan coil units to a single outdoor condensing unit connected only by refrigerant piping and wiring. Each fan coil unit can be independently controlled by varying the refrigerant flow or volume, and in doing so varying capacity being delivered to each zone; making it one of the most effective and efficient systems available ; Energy savings of up to 30% are predicted over comparable unitary equipment. A target ratio of 25% energy savings is seen acceptable on usual projects.
